...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following counties, Harris and Montgomery. * WHEN...Until 830 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 527 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Humble, Jersey Village, Greater Greenspoint, Aldine, northern Northside / Northline, Spring, Spring Branch North, Spring Branch West, Addicks Park Ten, Kingwood, Willowbrook, Greater Inwood, Hidden Valley, Acres Home, Fairbanks / Northwest Crossing, Carverdale, Hurricane Harbor Splashtown, Central Northwest, Westbranch and Bush Intercontinental Airport. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN MONTGOMERY AND NORTHEASTERN HARRIS COUNTIES THROUGH 600 PM CDT... At 525 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Greater Greenspoint, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Humble, Aldine, Northside / Northline, Kingwood, Greater Greenspoint, Spring, Spring Branch North, Bush Intercontinental Airport, Eastex / Jensen Area, Fairbanks / Northwest Crossing, Willowbrook, Hidden Valley, Acres Home, Atascocita, Lake Houston Dam, Lake Houston, Greater Inwood, East Little York / Homestead, Sheldon, and Hurricane Harbor Splashtown. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 715 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following counties, Austin, Harris, Montgomery and Waller. * WHEN...Until 715 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 409 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Rainfall rates in excess of 4 inches per hour have been observed. - Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following areas, Inland Harris, Montgomery and Waller. * WHEN...Through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving, training showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop somewhere within the watch area this afternoon and continue into this evening or overnight tonight. Generally expecting totals of 1 to 3 inches, but isolated higher amounts of 3 to 6 inches will be possible if strong thunderstorms move over the same area.
